22-1. 惟天下至誠이(이아) 爲能盡其性이니 能盡其性(이면) 則能盡人之性이오 能盡人之性(이면) 則能盡物之性이오 能盡物之性(이면) 則可以贊天地之化育이오 可以贊天地之化育(이면) 則可以與天地參矣니라

22-1. 오직 천하에 지극히 성(誠)한 분이라야 그 성(性)을 다할 수 있다. 그 성(性)을 다하면 사람의 성(性)을 다할 수 있고, 사람의 성(性)을 다하면 사물의 성(性)을 다할 수 있고, 사물의 성(性)을 다하면 천지(天地)의 화육(化育)을 도울 수 있고, 천지(天地)의 화육(化育)을 도우면 천지(天地)와 함께 나란히 설 수 있게 된다.

22-1. [언해] 오직 天텬下하읫 至지극 誠이 能히 그 性을盡 진니 能능히 그 性을 盡진면 能능히 人의 性을 盡진고 能히 人의 性을 盡진면 能히 物믈의 性을 盡진고 能능히 物믈의 性을 盡진면 可가히  天텬地디의 化화育육을 贊찬고 可가히  天텬地디의 化화育육을 贊찬면 可가히  天텬地디로 더브러 參참니라

22-1. [James Legge] It is only he who is possessed of the most complete sincerity that can exist under heaven, who can give its fun development to his nature. Able to give its full development to his own nature, he can do the same to the nature of other men. Able to give their full development to the natures of creatures and things, he can assist the transforming and nourishing powers of Heaven and Earth.
